I am home for the summer at last

the unheard of has happened, (metaphorically and physically) bbc7's monday goonshow was one I have never heard before. This means my collection is incomplete, no.....!

miracles may happen. I have already got the housing situation vastly improved. There is a house with a room in holding, I phone sunday evening to confirm and best of all, becuase it's her house (she lives upstairs, 3 students downstairs) we can sort everything out monday!
The rent is 50 pound a week, including water, gas and electric. The room is over double the size of my current one. It's close to a large Lidl's and the longsight market (and many more shops with veg! in front the shop). I need to sort internet, there's a phone point in the hall, and I can run a cacble under the carptet, will need some tinkering, but I'm a comsci student and thus the practice is usefull. Good storage space. Large window. Free washing machine. Oh and the whole house is no smoking, and she aprove my no drinking. She doesn't understand what a broadgame is though, and thus doesn't understand that is a fairly quite activity
I should be in wimbourne now! with my hat and a tin in each hand!
let start at mild, it's boiling here, the heater is stuck on in my room and it faces the sun.
A marque is being set up just outside my room and has music kit on it, so much for a good sleep.
My phone is too old, so I can't get a replacement phone charger for it. Thus new phone... (I caught out the shop assistant, my phone has radio, I asked can it do bbc7 which is a digital radio station, silence)
And now the worst, would be flat mate as had home crisis and won't be living in manchester next year, thus I have to rest the home plan. I now have about a week to find and finalize a new home for me, for next year before I go south. I have started, I will continue

Manchester has won the university challenge!
what more needs to be said :) Current Mood: smug
and revision is now well under way with the first exam thursday. Over the weekend a flat mate of mine who does architecture was building a model of some amsterdam canal house, (a simple model showing from and shape) He's aware of my skills and I started to offer advice, and so it developed that as my revision break I was building a wooden spiral staircase for it, this turned out to be idea as I could take breaks of 'four completed steps' and they were relaxing, active and mentally stimulating in a different way to the revision. Today he took the model in, and what did all the architecture people say "nice staircase", kudos to me and apparently the skills of woodcraft are still in me.
As for revision, hooray for a detailed example exam paper with worked answers and a lot of online examples, questions and explanations from the mirror math course to my other math course. I do MT1212 and MT1232, pure math people do MT1202 and MT1222 which are 5 credit bigger units but therefor have all I need in them, thus double the resources for my course
other thoughts/news... don't burn rice (It was close)
Oh and attemded the burli ball, and decided formal dress for me should include my trilby, which ended up on everyones head at least once Current Mood: content

The Passing of the Techno-mages
cost 99p in oxfam but worth it's wieght in gold.
That was a very, very good read. I would say more, but it would detract from the point

Fear the onslaught of organization, my mobil is whimpering, but I have 3 flatmates, and were inspecting 3(poss4)houses on friday, all of which are affordable between us, and are cheaper than Witworth park student residence, even after having to pay bills. We get run of the hole 4 bedroom house, and with 2 serious rolplayers and a new comer to the game, as company. By the end of next week, I know where I will be living for the next year, and now for some rest.
In other news, watervole will be happy to know that my 'beard' has defiantly got a slight ginger look to it now.
In other, other news, to those who know the significance, my persians recently achived their first victory, against the Macedonians, of alexander. Current Mood: accomplished

Uni's are doing the flip side today, no student rallies or boycotts, but the teachers are, as there is a national lectures strike today and then from tommorow onwards they are doing a marking boycott. They're annoyed with pay down, (notably below average for their level of expertise), amount of students up, and the new money coming into education, not reaching them as promised. Life just took a turn for the interesting Current Mood: curious

One 2 and a half hour math exam done. Yawn
During that exam I successfully caught a cold, suffered it and pretty much got rid of it, all in the given given. Feeling better for the other exams, as while I needed the full time, I used it well. The Ice has been broken. Time to relax and look forward to an evenings roleplay. Current Mood: calm

Had a meeting of the burlington society yesterday and it has been most amusing. I asked someone to guess my age... 26! 18 to 26, is this a good thing or not I wonder. But then the half the people there all were determined I was joking! I actually had to get out my young persons railcard to prove my age and it was carefully inspected by at least 5 people. For the encore, I then made them decide I was clearly no student. Given I don't drink, smoke or take drugs, I eat healthy in self catered. In fact they started desperately naming vices to try and find one and failed. (I think I should be flattered by that, so I guess pride) There eventual conclusion was that they should my hand of and check what colour blood I have. (in case it was vulcan) Current Mood: amused

About half the lights in AB22 have malfunctioned. 2 aren't working but three are now permenatnly swithed on at half strength. The kitchen, toilets and hall are now in a permenant half light. This seems to disobey most the principles of how they work! (But I celibrate that my rooms light is working, and almost everyone elses room light isn't) Current Mood: confused

Three cheers for student discount.
I can get a week pass with a bus company for £2!, hooray
I have found a place with a 20% discount if I want food in the town center, hooray
I can watch 2 movies for a total of only 7.50, hooray (and be allowed to choose my own seat)
As a bonus, I also bought Thud, given my invested interest in it due to the game. (£3 pound of and then 10% student discount, grin)
Wallace and Gromit feels right, there is no higher praise.
Serenity is also great,
*Spoiler alert, Spoiler alert* It got me by surprise with both deaths, I really liked Shepard, Josh Weedon, you are a bastard and I respect you for being one.

I just had a random,
I just had a call via skype from Henry. But as it turns out this Henry is a chinese student, but not a manchester university student, a student in china. He is trying to learn english and so wanted to try speaking it to a native, being a Henry, he decided to search for other henry's and found me. He is surprisingly good at english, but not so great at understanding it, and so I have just had a slow 20min conversation with Henry of china. I was the first native english speaker he has ever talked to and by complete coincidence also a student.

Living in accomodation.
con; flat mates like loud music
pro; flat mates will actually turn volume down if asked.
Once again, I feel lucky to be in a flat which cooperates.
